about

This is the first Solo album of Gebhard Ullmann (plus Swiss accordionist Hans Hassler as a guest). Up to 16 woodwind instruments (overdubbing) including up to 6 bass clarinets, 4 soprano saxophones, all kinds of flutes on certain tracks. From orchestra to solo solo.
Originally released on 99Records a small label from Berlin this music was not available for more than two decades.

Tá Lam made a lot of best-CDs-of-the-decade-lists and is considered a classic when it comes to contemporary woodwind music.
The cover was printed in several books as a great example of early digipacks.
Liner notes by David Liebman, includes a poem by Bob Moses written for this CD.

" Tá Lam is is one of the highest achievements in composition and recording in the last forty years. Beyond description or label, this music exists out of time, as a monument to the creative impulse in man." (Budd Kopman in Allaboutjazz)
